Painting

Ventured into painting in the last few days, still haven’t quite got the hang of it.  But I’ll have to put the little hobby aside and get serious with my freelance work once again now that the kids in the house are off to Canada for their summer vacation.  No more excuses to slack off […]

Mother’s Day

Last year for Mother’s Day, we bought flowers for my mother and resulted in her whining about how the flowers would wilt in a week and we were wasting money, even though there was an obvious smile on her face.  This year, I decided to buy her orchids, something I’ve been wanting to try cultivating […]

Easter Sunday

Arrived church really early this morning as my brother-in-law needed to help with some preparation work.  Interestingly, I actually felt more awake today than other Sundays, perhaps due to the nice sunny weather. The afternoon was quiet and quite relaxed, I actually wanted to do more work on my dissertation, but deliberately restrained myself.  I […]

End of CNY

The spirit of Chinese New Year has slowly faded away.  The festive pink, red, and gold ornaments dressing the city are quickly disappearing, gesturing goodbye to the most vibrant holiday of the year;  I peeled off the greetings outside my studio door and counted my red pockets, wondering what the Year of the Rabbit will […]

Back to Work

Started creating my daily to-do list again.  It felt uneasy without a list of tasks to follow each day.  I don’t quite like long unplanned holidays, especially when I know that I’ve unfinished work waiting for me. Holiday’s over, desperately need to catch up on my Dissertation…

Cardboard Bricks

Had a lot of gatherings with family and friends in this CNY holiday, so I didn’t have as much time to work on my DIY projects as I hoped.  Nevertheless, I managed to craft some brick-sized (also half-sized) cardboard boxes, this is what I’ll do with all future cardboard collected from excess packaging!

Chinese New Year 2011

It’s the Year of the Rabbit, my second Chinese New Year since returning to HK.  The atmosphere is joyous and vibrant, but I didn’t feel as dramatic of a change as last year, another indicator that I’m well adapted to the lifestyle here. Spent the day with my family of ten – dim sum in […]

Receipts

I have the habit of saving the receipts of my purchases.  Within a year or so, the collection is more than enough to create a huge stuffed origami ball!  The ball will serve as a self-reminder to move away from the materialistic lifestyle, and to only buy things that I need and not things that […]

Christmas 2011

Sent out a load of eCards today, hope it won’t be regarded as spam! I just hope to tell my family and friends that there’s a special place in my heart reserved for them.  I’m forever thankful that God had me cross paths with so many wonderful people in life.

Christmas Card

Was up until 5am working on my Christmas card, interesting how time flies when I’m absorbed in my work.  It was my first time doing ink & wash and watercolor since returning to HK, brought back good memories of the late-night project crunching time for my cartooning/illustration night courses. Will email the card out tomorrow, […]
