Decided to discontinue the weekly Monday night painting classes after the MK riot during CNY and knowing that the school I attended was responsible for an even more violent riot against the then British government back in 1967.
I had been taking Monday night painting classes at the same centre for about 4-5 years, first oil painting, then watercolor. It was very pleasurable and addictive to go to class each Monday evening and have my mind focused on nothing other than painting, worries easily subsides and solitude sets in. Some of my friends and family felt that it’s pity I’m giving up the classes for silly political reasons, but I’m determined and will not perturb my decision. I can be quite stubborn sometimes.
I’m not giving up art per say, I probably will sketch/draw/paint for as long as I live, but I will probably need more self-discipline to be a (starving) Monday Artist without the classes.
