The news about Old Master Q’s original artist Wong Chak (王澤) passing away was on radio throughout the day yesterday.  Knowing that a local exhibition of the comic artist was extended, I decided to take a half day off to see it on its last exhibiting afternoon.

I wouldn’t consider myself a big fan of the Old Master Q comic, but after seeing the artist’s original comic drafts and his volumes of high quality comic strips, I couldn’t help but admire the talent, diligence, and dedication of the artist behind it.  At the exhibition, I see old folks as well as young kids reading, discussing, and laughing at the comic strips that are showcased.  Without a doubt, Old Master Q has to be the longest running comic strip and with the widest age range fans in HK!  Old Mr. Wong Chak would be pleased seeing the many happy faces at the exhibition as his main goal of drawing the comic strip was to bring happiness to its readers: “我的一生就像漫畫，我儘可能的讓<<老夫子>>，也就是讓自己耍寶去逗樂讀者。”

Once again I feel a little urge to start a comic strip, perhaps one of my 2017 New Year’s resolutions?
