1st Half Marathon Completed!!

IMG_2744I’ve MADE IT!!  I’ve completed my 1st half marathon!!  Though slow (2h43min), I’m happy that I was able to complete the full 21K without stopping (I did stop briefly once to tie my shoelace).

Although the weather didn’t cooperate (it rained throughout most of the run), it was a wonderful experience to run with so many other runners, they’re people from all walks of life, old and young, men and women, amateur and professional, foreigners and locals, etc.  And though there were some annoying runners who insisted on taking selfies in the middle of the road, there were many smiles and much positive energy to offset the negative experience.

The urban scenery was also quite delightful, I passed by many places that I recognize, and that usually brings up good memories of family/friends and the good times we had there.  But what occupied my mind most of the time during the run was my family.  I was thinking whether it was of similar difficulty when my parents illegally trafficked to HK from Mainland when they were young?  Probably even more difficult as they had to travel on sea route as well as hiking the mountains.  I also thought often about my uncle (my father’s younger brother) who is again battling cancer.  One needs even more positive energy and hope during sickness.

Add oil Uncle!!  Add oil Hong Kong!!
