Left home in the morning to register for next term’s Monday watercolor classes. While nearby, I took a stroll in Shatin city center, visited a furniture mall and MUJI, found some inspirations on products I can potentially design later.
Visited an Art exhibition in TST in the early afternoon. The show was organised by a group of artists who find joy with they pen/brushes (筆上尋歡), it was the first organised showcase of their art. There was a wide spectrum of media used (oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen, pencil, photoshop,…). Art looks noticeably different when you do it out of pleasure/joy rather than for commercial purpose. Although the works were not as masterfully painted as the oil paintings I saw from another exhibition last week, the art here looked more joyful and attractive to me. Maybe this is why I never stepped up to become a full-time artist, I just wanted to do art for pleasure sake.
Went back to the studio afterwards, tried to correct the watercolor painting I did last week, but failed. Was rather late to my evening classes, watched the watercolor instructor demonstrate (always a pleasure) and continued working on possibly my last oil painting.
A stimulating and pleasurable Art Monday.
