For many years, regardless of busy academics or work, I’ve been dedicating my Sundays for rest and to spend time with my family. After being diagnosed with AOSD and having spent 12 days at the hospital, I know even better now the importance of rest.
Today was a particularly restful Sunday. After a restful sleep, I woke up early and had plenty of time to get myself ready for the early session Sunday service. After service, there was much time to spare before our weekly family dim sum, so I went to the flower market to buy some soil and some flowers for my mother. Since the day was started early, I had lots of free time in the afternoon, so I went to the “goldfish street” to buy fishes and aquatic plants for my two long neglected aquariums at home. Spent the rest of the afternoon slowly cleaning up the aquariums.
My brother-in-law boarded the plane and returned to Toronto in the afternoon, and my sister brought my two little nieces over for dinner.
I deliberately slowered my pace throughout the day, telling myself constantly not to rush through anything. It seemed particularly peaceful, quiet, and restful.
