Sculpting the Living World

IMG_0656Was invited by my painting instructor to see an art exhibition showcasing works done by members of the HK Painting Society, enjoyed seeing a large variety of work done in different styles, at different levels (amateur and professional), and in different mediums (oil, acrylic, watercolor, chinese ink,…).

Went to the nearby Museum of Art afterwards to see the current exhibition “Sculpting the Living World” by Ju Ming, absolutely loved it!  I never really appreciate sculptures before, as pretty as they may look, they don’t provide any practical functions.  I take my word back today, sculptures can actually bring people joy, I can see it from the smile on the faces of both the Artist and those who saw his work!  I admire the Artist as much as his work, he seemed to me like a curious elder who never gets tired finding joy in what he does.  The artist has sculpted for ~60 years, and he’s still constantly exploring new materials and philosophy in his work!
