Wanted to get into a habit of seeing exhibitions on a more regular basis so as to immerse myself with inspiration from others’ works. I picked Wednesday because that’s when many museums here are free.
Kicked off my first visit to see Creating a World of Compassion – Imperishable Affection: The Art of Feng Zikai. The late Artist is arguably the father of Chinese cartoons! Seeing the hundreds of works that’s full of compassion, humor, friendship, love, etc., I can imagine the artist spending a lifetime observing and recording daily what matters to him with his mastery in Chinese art and calligraphy. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful life?
I couldn’t stop myself from comparing the life of Feng Zikai with that of other late western cartoonists. I read a lot of biographies of famous western cartoonists when I was taking my cartooning courses many years ago. I have a tendency to envy their lives, being able to do what they love each and every day. Wouldn’t it be nice to live a life in creating art?!
